A joyrider stole a car, used it to drive across the Sunshine Coast, Australia, and then poured petrol on its windscreen.
He tried to set fire to the ground beneath the vehicle but when this failed he set fire to its back seats, the Sunshine Coast Daily reports Maroochydore District Court as hearing.
This incident took place at Horton Park Golf Club car park at around 05:40 local time on February 18th 2010.
Bradley Willis, 21, pleaded guilty to unlawfully using the motor vehicle, but claimed he was not directly involved in stealing or setting fire to it.
Judge Keith Dodds sentenced Willis to 12 months in jail with immediate parole.
He said that the defendant's criminal history "suggests a young man running wild as he sees fit with little regard for society's rules or restrictions".
The Uxbridge Gazette recently reported that a man told a court that he was sleepwalking when he damaged the windshields of a number of vehicles in Uxbridge on May 23rd 2009.
