Govt shortens time limit for fleet claims

Another motoring story from Auto Windscreens

The industry website noted that a recent Ministry of Justice consultation into personal injury claim times recommended that the time companies have to reply to claims be slashed.

It concluded that the current allowance of three months is excessive and should be cut back to just three weeks, attracting praise from one professional insurance body.

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) welcomed the proposed revisions, pointing to the benefits for fleets that find themselves making claims on behalf of injured drivers.

ABI spokesman Malcolm Tarling commented: "The changes are aimed at speeding up the time that evidence is put together by parties in the majority of injury claims."

He added: "The new framework that the government has laid out should allow drivers who are injured at work to have their claims dealt with much more quickly."
