Increased demand for cost-efficient cars from both consumers and fleet managers has boosted Mazda's share of the auto market to record levels, it has been revealed.
In spite of the industry downturn, total Mazda sales - which include retail and fleet figures - hit 3.7 per cent of the total market in February.
This is the Japanese automaker's best ever result for February and it even eclipses the highest-ever monthly total of 2.9 per cent.
According to Sales Director Mark Cameron, the result can be explained by the need of individuals and fleet managers to source cars which offer quality at a low price.
"There are still plenty of customers out there willing and able to buy new cars, but these people are placing much more focus on exactly what they can get for their money - and this is where the attributes of the core models in Mazda's range have been attracting increased attention," he confirmed.
Brands which have proved particularly popular include the Mazda3, Mazda2 and Mazda5.
Fleet managers looking to take good care of their cars should get windscreen chips filled in as soon as they're noticed in case they develop into fully-fledged cracks.
