Police arrest two after missiles thrown off bridge

Two teenagers from Martlesham in Suffolk have been arrested following reports of missiles being thrown from a road bridge in the area.

Police launched an appeal for information after the windscreen of a silver BMW was smashed by an object which is believed to have been thrown off a bridge over the A12 at about 4am last Sunday.

Officers have now arrested two 15-year-olds on suspicion of causing a danger to road users.

According to a report by the East Anglian Daily Times, the driver of the BMW was travelling down the A12 at Martlesham when she passed under a footbridge. Moments later she heard a bang and the windscreen of her car cracked.

The woman was unhurt in the incident and managed to keep control of the vehicle.

Police are still looking for witnesses to the incident and have asked anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to get in touch.

A separate incident in Hertfordshire last month saw a brick thrown from a road bridge. It struck the windscreen of a van but did not cause in any injuries.
