The results of a new survey carried out by insurance price comparison website Confused.com, have revealed that the most Brits are worried about getting behind the wheel abroad. Almost three quarters (73%) of people who plan to drive abroad during their summer holiday said they were worried by motoring laws in other countries, road signs and foreign driving habits. One in five are expected to have some form of collision during their break. Close to a fifth of respondents admitted to having driven on the wrong side of the road while in a foreign country, while two-fifths said switching sides and driving on the right was their number one fear. Motorists have been warned to make sure they do sufficient research and understand the local laws and rules of the road for each country they expect to drive in. "As the holiday season approaches, we're going to see more Brits heading to the continent," said Gareth Kloet, head of car insurance at Confused.com. "While driving is often the most convenient means of travel, it's important for motorists to take the time to understand the foreign laws. "Accidents can easily happen in an unfamiliar environment, so reading up and making sure you're completely covered for the country you're driving in is just as important as getting the right currency."
