Website criticises courier advice pack
27 February 2009, 13:00

A Car Windscreens service you can rely on
A company dedicated to connecting packages and parcels with delivery drivers travelling close to their destination has praised new guidance for couriers but claimed that it doesn't do enough to educate them on the best use of load space.
Stuff2Send.com aims to link packages with drivers in a bid to cut unnecessary fuel costs and carbon emissions and site founder Colin Hay believes the Right Van Man guidance could be more comprehensive.
The information pack is provided by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the Vehicle Certification Agency and the Department for Transport and was launched yesterday (February 26th).
"Right Van Man is a good guide, with some useful environmental tips, but we think it misses a trick on running empty," said Mr Hay.
"This represents a huge drain on resources for couriers, particularly those travelling long distances, but it also creates unnecessary emissions that sites like Stuff2Send can prevent."
The website was launched late last year and now has over 1,000 drivers earning extra cash on its books.
Customers of the site advertise where their package is coming from and going to and drivers then bid on the job if they are making a similar journey.
