Five Eager Apprentices Join Auto Windscreens

Auto Windscreens has welcomed five new ALEX (Apprenticeship Learning Experience) apprentices into its team this month.

Four of the youngsters have taken up trainee automotive glazing technician roles in Birmingham, Canterbury, Chesterfield and Coventry, while one has joined the company’s Technical and Innovation department.

“Apprentices are the future of our business and those who have joined previously have demonstrated that today’s young people have a lot to offer to companies,” said Tony Green, Auto Windscreens’ Technical and Innovation Manager. “Our previous apprentices have gone on to become successful technicians so we’re excited to see how our newest recruits will develop over the next year.”

Auto Windscreens, part of the Markerstudy Group of Companies, has appointed 41 apprentices since the ALEX scheme began in 2017 and Chesterfield-based Technician Sam Cox was named Markerstudy Group’s Apprentice of the Year 2018 in August. Jack Meazza, another Auto Windscreens’ Technician, also received a Special Commendation award.

The ALEX initiative has been developed by Markerstudy Group for 16 – 22 year olds and is fully endorsed and regulated by OFSTED, with inspectors highly commending the programme earlier this year.

Ewan Freeman, Markerstudy Group’s Apprenticeship Programme Manager, commented: “Our ALEX apprenticeship scheme continues to grow and we’re very fortunate to be working with so many talented young people across the Group. We’re proud of the achievements our apprentices make and look forward to supporting our newest members of the ALEX programme at Auto Windscreens.”
