Tom Barker from Rochester is officially our ‘Best Technician’ in the UK for the third time. He competed against colleagues from across the country in our annual ‘Clearly the Best’ final on 4 September at our training centre and headquarters in Chesterfield.
Tom lifted the coveted ‘BE57 TEC’ numberplate for his van and was presented with a cheque for£3,000 at an evening ceremony at Chesterfield FC. The other finalists were Alex Stamen fromAbingdon, Anthony Williams from Port Talbot and Pete Rose from Swansea.
At the ceremony, we also awarded an ‘Auto Windscreens Apprentice of the Year’ shield for the second time. The winner was Kasper McKinnon, who works from our Southend-on-Sea service centre, for his performance in his Level 3 Automotive Glazing Technician apprenticeship.
The event also featured workshops from Tony Green on training and apprentices, technology in glass from Mark Atherton at Pilkington, AI technology from our Group’s Head of IT, Eoin Grace, our ESG and group targets from Group Head of Sustainable Business Strategy, Tom Williams and a presentation on Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Services (for which Tony Green volunteers) from Neville Wright.
