Auto Calibrate Highlights Need for Driver Education
As part of National Customer Service Week 2026, Auto Calibrate is highlighting the growing importance of customer education as vehicle technology becomes more advanced.
Modern vehicles are equipped with increasing numbers of safety and driver assistance systems, commonly known as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). With plans to introduce more vehicle safety technologies in the coming years, understanding how these systems work is becoming increasingly important for drivers.
Recent research commissioned by Auto Calibrate surveyed 1,000 UK drivers and revealed notable gaps in awareness and confidence. More than one in ten respondents were unsure whether their vehicle was fitted with ADAS technology, while almost one in five drivers who knew they had the systems said they lacked confidence in understanding how they work.
The findings are significant given the growing number of vehicles on UK roads equipped with Level 2 ADAS technology, which can support drivers through features such as lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance systems.
As vehicle technology evolves, ensuring drivers understand both the capabilities and limitations of these systems is essential. Greater awareness can help motorists use safety features more effectively while maintaining responsibility behind the wheel.
The research also highlights the importance of maintaining ADAS systems correctly. Following certain repairs, bodywork or windscreen replacements, these technologies may require recalibration to ensure they continue to operate as intended. Accurate calibration carried out by qualified technicians helps ensure vehicle safety systems are correctly aligned and functioning effectively.
Auto Calibrate is continuing its work to raise awareness of ADAS technology, helping drivers better understand the safety features fitted to their vehicles and the role professional calibration plays in keeping them operating correctly.
By combining technical expertise with clear guidance and support, the automotive industry can help motorists navigate an increasingly technology-driven driving experience with greater confidence and understanding.
