A new Auto Windscreens Rapid Response scooter took to London’s roads this month and is being used to serve customers requiring in-vehicle camera installations – a secondary service offered by the UK windscreen repair and replacement company.
The Auto Windscreens-branded Yamaha Tricity is fully kitted out with all the equipment needed by its experienced ‘rider technician’ to fit windscreen-mounted forward facing dashcams, which encourage safer driving and protect against fraudulent insurance claims. If the three-month trial in the capital proves a success, the aim is to eventually roll out a Rapid Response fleet in other cities across the UK.
“Scooters could be the way forward for our dashcam installation service,” said Auto Windscreens’ Operations Director, James Macbeth. “We’re continually looking at innovative ways to improve our service to customers and expect to see quicker travel times between appointments as the bike will avoid traffic congestion, ultimately meaning an increase in the number of cameras fitted daily.”
He added: “Having a technician in London dedicated to dashcams also means that our other technicians operating in the area can focus exclusively on glass repairs and replacements. Depending on the results of the trial, there is scope for this to have a significant impact on our future service delivery strategy within this arm of the business.”
