World Environment Day

Monday, 5 Jun 2023

We marked World Environment Day this week (Monday 5 June) with our fourth team litter pick of 2023 as part of our ‘cleaner community’ initiative. 10 volunteers led by Business Support Director, Shaun Atton cleared the area of plastic and rubbish around McGregor’s Pond, near its head office in Chesterfield. This follows litter picks earlier in the year at Rother Valley Washlands at Hasland, Chesterfield Canal and around our service centre in Marnin Way in Edinburgh.

Since committing to The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) last year and announcing our ambitious target to achieve Net Zero by 2045, we have embarked on a number of projects to help reach our goal. We have introduced recycling stations in all our offices and service centres around the UK and held staff education sessions.

Shaun Atton said: “We focus on three core pillars to continually improve; these are Customers, Sustainability and Our People, and we take our responsibilities extremely seriously. We have 72 sites around the UK and our teams are committed to supporting the communities and environment in which we live, work and conduct business. We must all do what we can to help beat climate change, not just on World Environment Day, but every day.”
