Jim Allen is ‘Clearly the Best’ Auto Windscreens technician in the UK
Jim Allen from Banbury is officially Auto Windscreens ‘Best Technician’ in the UK after competing against colleagues from across the country in our annual ‘Clearly the Best’ final on Thursday (8 September) at Auto Windscreens’ training centre and headquarters in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
Having made it through regional heats, Jim, who works from the Oxford service centre, scored the most points, undertaking a timed and quality assessed windscreen repair, replacement and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration. He lifted the coveted ‘BE57 TEC’ numberplate for his van and was presented with a cheque for £3,000 at an evening ceremony at Chesterfield FC.
The other finalists were Lloyd Cullen from Margate, Chris Boldero from Kings Lynn, Mike Duddridge from Newport and John Beer from Ludgershall.
Jim said: “I’m very proud to work for Auto Windscreens and even prouder to hold the title of ‘Best Technician’. It’s been a pleasure to get drivers back on the road over the 25 years I’ve worked for the company. I’ll be returning to the Oxford service centre with my head held high and look forward to driving around with a special new reg plate on my van!”
James MacBeth, Managing Director of Auto Windscreens said: “We hold this competition every year because we’re so proud of all our technicians and how they look after our customers, as well as our training and service quality. It was so good to see the five finalists’ work, who have a great deal of knowledge and experience between them. A big well done to all involved, and especially to Jim, who proved he’s ‘Clearly the Best’!”
