Committed to Net-Zero Standard

Wednesday, 11 May 2022

We have committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Net-Zero Standard and joined the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign - the world’s largest and fastest-growing group of companies that are aligning to help halve global emissions by 2030. We are also now part of Race to Zero, the UN-backed campaign, which looks to rally leadership from all non-state actors for a healthy, resilient, zero carbon recovery.

The SBTi is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focused on accelerating companies across the world to achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.

Shaun Atton, Business Support Director, with responsibility for our Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, explains: “The latest climate science from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - described by the UN as “code red for humanity” - shows it is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, but we all have to take action.

“Auto Windscreens has made good strides over the last few years and is proud to be certified by BP as a carbon neutral business, recycling 100% of our waste glass. The next step for us is to develop science-based net-zero targets and submit them to be validated by the SBTi. Making this commitment is an important milestone and we will be sharing our progress with partners over the course of the next two years.”
